INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL SALON 2010
On behalf of the Directory Board of Sunrise Photo Association(SPA), I am pleased to invite all photographers, amateur and professional, worldwide to participate in the 1st Sunrise Photo International digital salon will take place on October 2010 in Westminster, California USA. The Sunrise international exhibition intention is to award in excess of 30 awards at the discretion of the judges. These awards are all and only PSA and FIAP ls. Sunrise Photo Association hope to see your works.

CONDITION OF ENTRY:
This salon does not accept the works entered salons of USPA, ICS, FMPA, SWAN, SPA, 35mmPCS, PSNY, VN-USPA in the previous years. This salon accept only new image. Exhibitor submitted images to this salon please aware of this matter, The same image may not be converted color into mono and submitted in another section, if against the rule it will be rejected, and the fee is not refundable.
THEME: Open
Each participant may enter 4 digital COLOR and 4 digital MONOCHROME images. Each file stored in a DVD/CD Rom containing the works, indicated from No1 to No.4. The Image title has to match with entry form.
ENTRY FEE: For one or two (2) section: North America : US$12.00 dollars; other countries : US$13.00 dollars (CASH ONLY). Entries receive without fee will not be judged. GROUP ENTRY: If provided DVD/CD ROMs are all included in one package, then a US$30.00 dollars discount on fees will be given for each package consisting of 10 separate participants.
WORK SIZE: Exhibitor may submit 4 color and 4 monochrome digital images for each section. Files are to be sent on a DVD/CD-Rom and must be in JPEG max 1024 x 768 PPI. Image files will be named each image number from No.1 to No.4. Follow the format: Lastname-Firstname-Honor-Section-Entry#-ImageTitle, Country.
JUDGING AND WINNING IMAGES: All images will be projected for judging in public. The winning images will be reproduction in DVD/CD-ROM and project non-stop for public show at the art galleries.. The entries’ DVD/CD-Rom will not be returned.
ACCEPTANCES from this exhibitors are eligible apply for CPID PSA star rating and FIAP distinction.
REPORT CARD: Notify by email. CATALOG: All participants will receive a DVD/CD-ROM catalog.
AWARD: Sunrise intention is to award in excess of 30 awards at the discretion of the judges. These will include PSA, FIAP Medals and honor ribbons.
ATTENTION: The original image must be made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired with a digital camera. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. The 2007 Consolidated Exhibition Standards incorporates numerous changes in an entry form’s requirements.

1. Exhibition name must be included. (Page 2 - Item 4A).
2. Name, postal and email address, telephone and fax numbers, if available, of the General Chairman shall appear on the entrant’s retained portion of the entry form. (Page 2 - Item 4B).
3. Name, postal and e-mail addresses of person(s) and website address, if applicable, from whom or where entry forms may be obtained. (Page 2 - Item 4C).
4. Sections, categories, and/or classes sponsored, including restrictions, if permitted or required by individual Division rules. (Page 2 - Item 4D).
5. Closing date (Page 2 - Item 4E).
6. Entry fee(s) (Page 2 - Item 4F).
7. Date(s) of judging (Page 2 - Item 4G)
8. Dates of proposed mailings for (1) notification cards (or e-mail notification) (2) return of total rejects (3) return of all entries (4) awards and (5) catalogs. (Page 2 - Item 4H)

14. “Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a website. The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. Images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, by the maker and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates subject to divisional restrictions”. All final work must be on photographic film, or on electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted. 16. Judging order: One of the following statements: 1) an entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging, or 2) an entrant’s four images will be presented to the judges consecutively. Or in the event an alternative procedure (such as simultaneous display of prints for judging) will be used, that statement shall be substituted. (Page 2, item 5E).
Entry Form Prohibitions:
1. There can be no restrictions as to subject matter except as outlined in the rules of specific sections, or specified by law in the country where the exhibition is held. (Page 2 - item 5F).
2. Entries must be limited to not more than 4 slides/prints/digital files per section, category, or class. (Page 2 - Item 5G).

d. The entry form shall also include this statement (or the portions that apply, if the exhibition includes only slides, or only prints, or only digital images: "All final work must be photographic film, digital file, photographic or digital print material, mounting excepted."
e. One of the following statements: 1) an entrant's four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging, or 2) an entrant's four images will be presented to the judges consecutively. Or in the event an alternative procedure (such as simultaneous display of prints for judging).
19. Nature (Digital, Prints and Slides):
a. PSA Nature Definition: The Nature section of the entry form must state the PSA Nature Definition which is as follows: "Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict observations from all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to identify the subject material and to certify as to its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except on the rare occasion where those human elements enhance the nature story. The presence of scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals is permissible. Photographs of artificially produced hybrid plants or animals, mounted specimens, or obviously set arrangements, are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add to, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural.
b. PSA Authentic Wildlife:
i. Definition for the Wildlife Medal: Authentic wildlife is defined as one or more organisms living free and unrestrained in a natural or adopted habitat. Therefore, landscapes, photographs of zoo or game farm animals, or any living subject taken under controlled conditions are not eligible for Wildlife competitions. Exhibitions presenting the PSA Nature Wildlife Gold Medal are to include on their entry forms:
ii. The preceding definition of authentic wildlife in addition to the general nature definition.
iii. A “box” to the right of the entry title space to be marked "W" by the entrant as certification that the photograph so designated complies with both the general nature and the authentic wildlife definitions.
20. Photojournalism (Digital, Prints and Slides):
f. “Photojournalism entries shall consist of images or sequences of images with informative content and emotional impact, including human interest, documentary and spot news. The journalistic value of the image shall receive priority over pictorial quality. In the interest of credibility, images that misrepresent the truth and model or staged set-ups are not permitted. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the image, without changing the photojournalism content, are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural.
g. Exhibitions offering a Human Interest medal or a Human Interest section shall also include, "Human Interest is defined as an image depicting a person or persons in an interactive, emotional or unusual situation, excluding sports action."
20. Photo Travel (Digital, Prints and Slides):
a. The Photo Travel section of the entry form must state that “Subject matter must portray Photo Travel”, and include the following definition: “A Photo Travel image must express the feeling of a time and place, and portray a land, its people, or a culture in its natural state. Photo Travel images have no geographical limitations. Ultra close-ups which lose their identity and studio-type model shots are unacceptable. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the image, without changing the photo travel content, are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural.
22. Pictorial Print – Monochrome Definition:
d. A monochrome print is defined as having no more that two colors, monochrome (various shades of grey from black to white) plus one other color. A monochrome print toned in a single color will remain a monochrome work.
e Exhibitions may choose to use one of the following two definitions for their Monochrome Print Section:
i. A monochrome print is defined as having no more than two colors: monochrome plus one other color, or:
ii. A monochrome print is defined as having no more than one color, but it may be any single color. .
One of the above definitions must be added to a Monochrome print entry form, if not, then the exhibition must accept prints as defined in No 1.

The words "subject to divisional restrictions" shall also be added if the same exhibition includes nature, photo travel, or photojournalism.
d. The entry form shall also include this statement (or the portions that apply, if the exhibition includes only slides, or only prints, or only digital images: "All final work must be photographic film, digital file, photographic or digital print material, mounting excepted."

PSA Nature Definition: The Nature section of the entry form must state the PSA Nature Definition which is as follows: "Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict observations from all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to identify the subject material and to certify as to its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except on the rare occasion where those human elements enhance the nature story. The presence of scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals is permissible. Photographs of artificially produced hybrid plants or animals, mounted specimens, or obviously set arrangements, are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add to, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural.
b. PSA Authentic Wildlife:
i. Definition for the Wildlife Medal: Authentic wildlife is defined as one or more organisms living free and unrestrained in a natural or adopted habitat. Therefore, landscapes, photographs of zoo or game farm animals, or any living subject taken under controlled conditions are not eligible for Wildlife competitions. Exhibitions presenting the PSA Nature Wildlife Gold Medal are to include on their entry forms:
ii. The preceding definition of authentic wildlife in addition to the general nature definition.
iii. A “box” to the right of the entry title space to be marked "W" by the entrant as certification that the photograph so designated complies with both the general nature and the authentic wildlife definitions.

f. “Photojournalism entries shall consist of images or sequences of images with informative content and emotional impact, including human interest, documentary and spot news. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the image, without changing the photojournalism content, are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural.
g. Exhibitions offering a Human Interest medal or a Human Interest section shall also include, "Human Interest is defined as an image depicting a person or persons in an interactive, emotional or unusual situation, excluding sports action."
20. Photo Travel (Digital, Prints and Slides):
a. The Photo Travel section of the entry form must state that “Subject matter must portray Photo Travel”, and include the following definition: “A Photo Travel image must express the feeling of a time and place, and portray a land, its people, or a culture in its natural state. Photo Travel images have no geographical limitations. Ultra close-ups which lose their identity and studio-type model shots are unacceptable. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the image, without changing the photo travel content, are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural.
22. Pictorial Print – Monochrome Definition:
d. A monochrome print is defined as having no more that two colors, monochrome (various shades of grey from black to white) plus one other color. A monochrome print toned in a single color will remain a monochrome work.
e Exhibitions may choose to use one of the following two definitions for their Monochrome Print Section:
i. A monochrome print is defined as having no more than two colors: monochrome plus one other color, or:
ii. A monochrome print is defined as having no more than one color, but it may be any single color. .
One of the above definitions must be added to a Monochrome print entry form, if not, then the exhibition must accept prints as defined in No 1.
